Our Canoe Trip for Beginners is perfect for your first time to the Boundary Waters or if you are bringing smaller children! After a briefing with us at Seagull Outfitters we transport you by van south of us about 5 miles to start your trip at the Cross Bay entry point. Set up your base camp here or if you wish paddle on to Long Island Lake. This is an area of small lakes and short portages. Watch for moose in the shallows as evening sets in. Go swimming on the sand beach on Long Island Lake or fish the many rapids that connect the lakes. Paddle back to a van pickup at the Cross Bay entry point.

Included in the Canoe Trip for Beginners Package:

  • Your first or last night’s lodging in our beautiful bunkhouse
  • All of your lightweight equipment (sleeping bags, tents, thermarests and food)
  • Aluminum or Royalex canoes with Stearns life jackets and Carlisle paddles (inquire about the Kevlar canoe upgrade)
  • All of your cooking and eating utensils, etc.
  • Personalized trip routing session to answer all of your questions.

We also recommend the first-time boundary waters guide to help you plan your trip, pack the ultimate canoe trip packing list essentials, or we can pack your packs for you with our Complete Canoe Outfitting Packages. We’ll teach you how to use everything in the packs. All you need is your toiletries and clothing.
