January 2009 – Waterfalls & Rapids
Looking up Canyon Falls, in the “Falls Chain”. You can see a canoe (not ours!) trapped at the top. Don’t know the story behind that but it sure demonstrated the need for watching out for safety to the boys in my crew! BTW, the fishing at the bottom of these falls is always great!

February 2009 – Portages
Portage between Ham Lake and Cross Bay Lake just as you enter the BWCAW. I guess a sign pointing out “wilderness” is an oxymoron but at least it’s not the golden arches!

November 2009 – Glassy Calms
High noon on Saganagons just south of Dead Man’s Portage. Glassy waters are a dime a dozen in the evening but not so common midday.
